Is there someone you know
You're loving them so
But taking them all for-granted
You may lose them one day
[Something] takes them away
And they don't hear the words you long to say
I would give anything I own,
I'll give up my life, my heart, my home,
I will give everything I own
Just to have you back again
Just to touch you once again
"Everything I Own", song by David Gates / Bread.
Ah, my poor heart. Where's my girl?

I have heard that song in my head over and over. In fact it was there just a day or so ago. I too have lost a child. My son Chip Hearne, age 28, in a car accident May 12, 2008. Keep talking, getting your thoughts out there the way that you are doing. By doing this you are helping yourself and so many others. If you need to talk to someone who understands, please contact me, I will listen.
ReplyDeleteShe's there, Rob. In your heart, in your mind, every minute, every word proves that she is there. You only cannot see her or touch her but she will touch you through the movement of the air, through the sunbeams warming skin, through the raindrops falling down your face, through the laughter of Nattie and Lauren, through the warmth of Marions arms.
ReplyDeleteShe is there in everything you owe.
Kindly,
Viviane
Your girl is there where you are. You know she is . She has spoken to you. She is closer to you now than she has ever been. She knows you need her and she will never be far away. Love Mum.
ReplyDeleteWat kan muziek je toch raken als je goed luistert.
ReplyDeleteHang in there, dikke knuffel voor Marion.
Liefs
Natascha
Dear Rob, I read your blog every day. If I can find some words of comfort, I post a comment. But at this moment I can't find them. So I just want to let you and Marion know that I think of you every day. X Bettine
ReplyDeleteAlways in my thoughts. Willing you the strength to find your way through the pain.

The poetry is very moving and reminds us of your level or grief. You would be willing to give up all material possessions (and some less material such as your life) in order to have Kay back.
ReplyDeleteWell we can understand that, and we know that you would have gone for the same bargain when she was alive. It wasn't necessary - as it would have changed nothing.
Beyond material possessions there are the things that you don't possess that surround you: I submit to you that they are even more valuable. Beginning with Marion, Lauren and Natasha. They don't need material possessions so much, and I am sure they would join you in throwing their stuff on the bonfire, were the deal on offer. But they do need your "life" and your "heart" and a "home".
After Marion, Lauren and Natasha there is a long list of non-material things not to give up. It's for you to make the order. Friends, Sky, Sunsets... in short 'Life, your heart, your home'.

Be careful with this music stuff... it's powerful, man...
(Be especially careful with Peter Gabriel's album 'Scratch my back'.)
